Coach Carter

had a longg day yesterday. stayed out like *counts fingers* 16 hours yesterday. my eyes were very very tired but my mouth could still move by the time i reach home at about 0420. yes. that's morning.

went to school for the briefing and then it headed like 12+. was wondering what to do until 2+ cos i had interview @ Suntec @ 0330. headed there early anyway.

the interview was a waste of time. sighs. they only need temporary weekday workers. doubt i can even make it for any of the day.

well, back to the fun part. after interview, i headed down to Cineleisure to meet Wendy and Berlin (that's the new friend i made a few days back). went straight to Pasta Mania and eat, and again, i cant finish my creamy chicken. perhaps it's very filling bah.

went to buy our tickets for COACH CARTER and initially me and Berlin thought Wendy had bought the 7pm show but then she bought the 930pm one. well, so we rotted till 930 loh.

went to play arcade, shop Mango, take neoprints, ask Julie if she wanna watch COACH CARTER since she had a complimentary ticket. then rushed down to get her ticket.

when she arrived after work, we rushed down to Shilin Taiwan Street Snacks cos she wanna eat the chicken. oh man, it was like a race against time. reached the cinema like 935.

okay, i forgot to mention i saw this guy with a yellow towel over the head. when i turned over and wanted to tell Berlin "hey look at that guy, so attention seeker" but i changed my words cos when he turned over, he's a HANDSOME foreigner! geez. and i saw him walking into the same theatre as us =D

back to the show. COACH CARTER is a VERY NICE show! omg. it reaches my heart, touches my emotions and made my heart skip a beat every time they had a match.

oh ya. basically it's about Ken Carter, who is offered to coach the basketball players in Richmond High School. the boys over there are bad and played basketball the sore loser way. they ended up fighting with the opponents after the match Carter witness. but he had decided to coach them anyway, even though they were a bunch of almost-hopeless kids.

he started by asking them to sign contracts. and in that contract, it states that they have to gain a 2.3 GPA, attend every class, not to be late for practices and that anytime after 2.55 they're considered late etc. some boys went off immediately and one argued with him.

when the one who argued with him see them won the next match, he begged for a place to be back in the team. that's even though he had to do 2500 pushups and 1000 'suicides' for the coach before Friday. he failed anyway. and the coach asked him to leave. but the players helped him with it, and so he's back.

matches continued and they won champion for what match i forgot =P but then those boys failed to attend classes and didnt reach the required GPA. Carter found out, his top blowed off, and decided to lock out the gym and stop matches until the boys had reached their target. the boys retaliated but then they had no choice. they had to study hard. parents came down to complain and one of them suggestted to rip him off of his coach lisence. Carter went up to say some things and said that they dont have to sack him, he'll leave if the board disagrees with what he said.

he got 2 out of 6 votes and off he went. he decided to leave even though the Principal asked him to stay. well, at least the Principal made some sense in the end. she had disagreed to the coach when he asked for the boy's progress report at the beginning.

he went to the basketball court and saw the locks off from the door. and when he went in, he saw the boys with their desks trying to study. one of them said "they want us to play basketball, but they cant make us play. we had decided to finish off where we had started" one of them answered his qns. he had intially kept asking them "what is your deepest fear".

those parts were touching and the boys made some sense out of with Coach had been wanting them to do. not only he wanted them to be good basketball players, he wanted him to be good students too: to get into college.

i supposed he had the same wishes as Miss Chan. dont wonder who is she, she is my Sec Sch Band Conductor. she, also, had state that she wanted us to achieve a 65% overall percentage and if we dont meet her expectations, she will see us personally. well, i never got to see her personally cos my grades were slightly better than what she expected.

through the movie i realised how much effort the coach is putting. he had wanted the better for the boys: to be a good basketball player and a good student as well. but the players mistook the study part and even went on to argue with him. they had, in the end, understood his good intentions and became a useful person. well, i teared the part when the boy's friend had been gunshot dead and previously he was still threatening some people with his gun. that boy (he's with the Afro hairstyle haha) went to the coach and begged him to let him play (he had went off twice) because he was afraid he'd have the same fate as his friend. though the kids didnt win the last match, the one against St Franciso cos they were strong opponents, they didnt made it for only 2 points. they were close to wining. and i think that's an achievement.

okay, i hope my entry isnt getting boring cos im still so high after watching. the movie's season ends today. so by the time people read this, it'd prolly end already. shrugs.

im off! OH NO. IM GONNA BE LATE.
